    Libro: Acceso, conocimiento y uso de Internet en la universidad. Modelo de diagnóstico y caracterización: Caso Universidad de Antioquia

    Based upon the research project Access to and Knowledge and Use of the Internet in the University of Antioquia, this paper presents a model that will enable any university to diagnose and analyze its situation relative to the utilization of the Internet as a support medium for instruction, research, extension and administrative management and, consequently, to determine the possible actions that would be necessary in order for the Internet to become a "digital opportunity" in every university. This model would also enable each university to address the four great threats or limitations to which universities are often exposed: the digital divide, information and digital illiteracy, the poor quality of the digital information that is so often used (information asymmetry), and information overload (infoxication). The methodology utilized in this study included the following steps: creation of a matrix for the information compiled, definition of the macroconcepts-macrovariables of analysis, the state of the art on the subject, the contextualization of the situation of the university, the selection of the sample group, and, finally, the recommendations to the agencies. As a general conclusion, this study notes the urgent necessity for all of the universities to assume, as one of their principal strategies for action, the incorporation of the TIC and the Internet into their tools and services as well as their mission statements. This incorporation must include the integration of plans, programs, and projects and ongoing evaluation

    RESUMEN: El laboratorio de experiencias es una estrategia para generar un espacio de participación, aprendizaje y decisión conjunta en el que los involucrados acuerdan trabajar y aprender juntos para identificar de manera conjunta un horizonte formativo en perspectiva de una cultura informacional. Esto significa la consolidación de un marco teórico que ilumine el sendero de la práctica educativa y un modelo pedagógico que orienten sus acciones. En ese sentido, el laboratorio de experiencias se define como un espacio de trabajo colaborativo que busca apropiar conocimientos en el campo de la pedagogía y la didáctica que permitan la comprensión del proceso de formación desde los contenidos educativos, los métodos de enseñanza y las estrategias de evaluación, en la dimensión de una cultura informacional. Igualmente, se tiene en cuenta a otros actores que han aportado conceptualmente, desde las teorías de la formación y las tradiciones pedagógicas que soportan los pilares de la práctica educativa que se desarrolla en el Sistema de Bibliotecas de la Universidad de Antioquia

    Internet in the University of Antioquia: Point of View from the Computer Classroom Managers and University Webmaster

    RESUMEN: Este texto es resultado de avance de investigación del proyecto interdisciplinario Acceso, conocimiento y uso de Internet en la Universidad de Antioquia, coordinado por los Grupos de Investigación en Tecnologías de la Información EIB y de Gestión del Conocimiento de la U. de A., cuyo propósito es identificar la situación de la Universidad en cuanto a la integración y apropiación que ha tenido Internet, por medio de diferentes herramientas y servicios, en sus tres procesos misionales (docencia, investigación, extensión; y la administración, como apoyo a esos procesos misionales). Gracias a esto, se pretende crear, inicialmente, un modelo que permita conocer esa situación de integración y apropiación de Internet en un ámbito universitario, y posteriormente, formular varias recomendaciones encaminadas a mejorar las prácticas y procesos apoyados en esta tecnología. El artículo presenta entonces el análisis y resultados del desarrollo de un instrumento de consulta (cuestionario estructurado) que permitió conocer la opinión de un porcentaje importante de todos los administradores de salas de cómputo y Webmaster de la Universidad, quienes han sido identificados como personal clave para mediar entre, los planes y la visión de las directivas, y los usos y comportamientos de la comunidad universitaria frente a las herramientas y servicios que ofrece Internet para desarrollar los procesos universitarios misionales.ABSTRACT: This text is the result of advance in the interdisciplinary research project Access, knowledge and use of Internet in the University of Antioquia, coordinated by the EIB´s Information Technologies and University of Antioquia’s Knowledge Management Research Group, with the purpose of identify which is the situation of the University regarding the integration and appropriation that Internet has had, through its different tools and services, in its three key processes (teaching, research, extension; and management, to support these processes) By this it intends to develop, on one side, a model that allows knowing the situation of Internet integration and appropriation in a University environment, and on the other side, a series of recommendations that help to improve the practices and processes supported by this technology. This article then shows the analysis and results of the development of an consulting instrument (structured questionnaire) that enabling to know the opinion of a significant percentage of computer classroom managers and Webmaster of the University, which have been identified as key persons to mediate between the University Directors’ plans and vision and the uses and behaviors of the whole of the University Community in matters of the tools and services offered by Internet to develop the key processes of the University
